12,000 children in Buckinghamshire live in poverty (Bucks County Council)

13.5 million people in the UK live in low income households (CAP)

3.2 million of those living in poverty are children (Oxfam)

Poverty amongst children and working-age adults is expected to rise (Rowntree Foundation)

There are 12,000 children living in poverty within the county of Buckinghamshire, a number of whom come from working households where circumstances mean they are struggling financially and this in turn leads to little being left in their budget for food.

One Can Trust has been formed to facilitate a number of community based projects, such as the One Can Foodbank established to provide people “in crisis” with a short-term free emergency food supply of non-perishable items such as soup, pasta, rice, baked beans, biscuits, cereals etc. Each food parcel provides enough nutritious basic ingredients, together with menu cards, to create a range of meals.

Recipients are individuals and families deemed “in crisis” by professional care-workers already working alongside them for reasons such as bereavement, probation, redundancy, family breakdown etc. Agencies registered with the One Can Trust then contact us when they have a client in need and we are able to supply free food parcels over a short period of time, until the “crisis” has been addressed.

  • “….we come across many families and individuals who are in need of help in crisis situations and hence a Foodbank scheme would be of great benefit to them.”

  • “I am writing to thank you on behalf of the family for your kind support. The clothes and food were very much needed and have meant that the children 12 months and 2 years can eat. Mum was very emotional when given them, but grateful.”
