Giving

We believe that as followers of Jesus we should give regularly, faithfully and generously from all that God has given us. This happens when we plan our giving. All the money that we receive is used to run all that God has called us to do, supporting our day-to-day activities, local charities such as Wycombe Homeless Connection and Lighthouse children’s holiday club as well as supporting work around the world. Currently we are supporting work in Cameroon, Ethiopia, Gambia, Uganda and Romania.
Where does the money come from to run St Andrew’s Church?
From us – the congregation! Also, as a registered charity we claim some of the tax paid on that money back from the Government, known as Gift Aid – so if you are going to give and you are a UK tax payer (Income or Capital Gains Tax) please fill in a Gift Aid Declaration form.
Anywhere else?
We do hire out the building but this money would go towards the cost of the staff who look after the building. Very occasionally, some specific gifts are received from Trusts or other donors and these are spent on the purpose for which they were given. Many of the activities we do are self funding e.g. toddlers.
All this information can also be found, together with any relevant forms and documentation, on the information desk at church.

Give regularly
There are many ways to do this:
- By setting up a standing order with your bank – if you would like details on how to set this up, please contact the finance team
- Through your employer’s payroll giving scheme (this only applies if your employer runs such a scheme – your Human Resources department can provide details on this).
- Online Make a one-off or monthly donation, with gift aid if possible, through Virgin Money Giving scheme
Other ways to give
- A regular collection is taken at all Sunday celebrations. You can use confidential envelopes to give in this collection.
- If you would like to send us a cheque or a giving voucher, please send it to the Finance Team and make it payable to St Andrew’s Church, High Wycombe.
- You can give in the form of quoted shares and other securities (which entitles you to tax relief.)
- You may also like to consider making a donation in your will. Please ask your solicitor when you make or change your will, or ask us for more information.
Tax Efficient Giving
If you pay UK tax (Income or Capital Gains Tax) and would like us to be able to claim back the basic rate tax, you will need to fill in, sign and return to us a Gift Aid Declaration if you have not done so already. The benefit to St Andrew’s is that it can recover the basic rate of income tax, currently 28p for each pound given. (If you pay higher rate tax, you may recover this through your own tax return.)
If you have any questions on these or other ways of giving, please contact the Finance Team or call on 01494 529668

Our Commitment as a church
As of October 2008, St. Andrew’s (along with many other UK churches) was required to register with the Charity Commission as a charity in its own right. This confirms our status as a fully regulated, ‘not for profit’ organisation. In other words, all money that the church raises is put towards good works locally and further a-field, or to support St.Andrew’s day-to-day activities. The church is completely self-dependent through fund-raising and its own commercial activities, so if you are considering making a gift (whether regular or one-off), please be assured that we will use your money wisely and carefully.
