Healing on the Streets
Seeing God at work
Since March 2009, High Wycombe has been blessed with a team who offer healing prayer on the streets every Saturday between 1.30-3.30pm. There have been some remarkable stories of God’s healing touch: the girl whose fear of spiders was dealt with completely, the lady who no longer needed her stick, the child whose brain tumour stopped growing, no further surgery required. Just as exciting have been the one or two who have joined Alpha courses or returned to church through meeting God on the streets. At the end of each prayer contact an envelope containing a ‘Why Jesus?’ is given, explaining in whose name prayers are prayed and how to find a local church.
St Andrew’s are part of this initiative, offering a different kind of fulfilment than the stores can offer. Some people are physically sick. Others have taken a few wrong turns in life and need help to find their way back. Some are just looking for that reassurance that there is someone taking care of them beyond what they can see or touch. We believe God is still healing people today and we want to be out on the streets to offer to pray for people if they would like us to.
