This day is designed to equip ordinary Christians to understand more fully who the Holy Spirit is and how He works in us to transform our lives.
A 4th generation preacher, Simon Ponsonby (41) came to a personal faith in his late teens through his local Anglican church. At 21 he become an evangelist, street preacher and church planter. Simon prepared for ordination at Trinity College Bristol where he was awarded two degrees: a BA 1st class honours in Theology followed by a Master of Letters for a 65,000 word research thesis into Karl Barth. From 1995 he served a curacy on a tough inner city council estate in Bradford before becoming, in 1998, the ‘Oxford Evangelical Pastorate Chaplain’ running a large and dynamic chaplaincy discipling undergraduates for 7 years. In August 05 he took up a new post as Pastor of Theology at St Aldates church lecturing on theology and entering an itinerant conference teaching ministry. Simon has published on the Spirit filled life titled ‘More’, also a weightier theology of the Spirit – ’God inside Out’’ and has recently published a serious study of eschatololgy: ‘And the Lamb Wins’. He is passionate about a life lived from the cross of Christ, under the authority of the Scripture, daily led by the Spirit, rooted in the Church. Simon is married to Tiffany, a teacher, artist & wonder mother of their two sons Joel (10) and Nathanael (7). He enjoys hot curry, military history & is obsessed about collecting vintage fountain pens.
