Prayer Visiting
To be “a transforming presence at the heart of our community”… We are going out onto our local streets
Over the past five years a team of 5 – 10 people have been going out on a Saturday morning each month to a specific street in our parish so we can pray for our neighbours. Many people give us their prayer needs which we read out during the Sunday service and it’s been exciting to see what God has been doing as some folk have got connected to St Andrew’s church through joining Alpha or Parents & Toddlers.
What Do The People In Our Community Want Us To Pray For?
One of the team wrote:-“Behold, we stood at the doors and knocked (or rang bells, where available). Some were politely confident that there was nothing that they needed to talk to us about (but we would give a leaflet telling them about the services and activities at St Andrew’s). Some were equally politely confident that there was something they’d like to talk to us about. The most encouraging moments were of course of the latter sort, moments where – for a minute or two – one was invited to share in someone’s life as they spoke openly about their personal triumphs or struggles or about some more ‘global’ issue that was on their minds and hearts. As one would expect then, some letters had fallen on stony doormats and the like and some had fallen where they did yield fruit that sprang up and increased, fruit which it was very heartening to help gather.”
We meet in church lounge on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10-15am and finish at 11-45am.
You will not go out alone we always go in pairs and if you are new we will put you with an experienced team member.
If you would like to be involved or find out more, please contact Barbara Prior or tel: 01494 529668 (church office) to give them your name.
