Serving

Every member of the church is encouraged to serve in the life of the church. This service can take many different forms. Here are just a few ways in which you could be involved:
Sundays
In order for the services to run smoothly we need:
Worship Team – Martin Webb heads up the worship bands in the church and is always keen to talk to musicians who would like to get involved in this important aspect of church life. email Martin Webb
PA Operators – email Phil Graham
Computer Operators – talk to Martin Webb if you would like to get involved in this area : email Martin Webb
Readers – if you would like to read the bible passage occasionally please email the church office
Intercessions – for those who would feel able to lead the church in prayers on a sunday. email the church office
Sidespeople – to give out leaflets, show people to their seats, help with preparing the church for services and clearing away. John Brooks heads up this team
Welcomers – If you feel you have a particular gift for looking out for new people and introducing them to others, please email Debbie Dust about joining this team.
Hospitality team – who prepare and serve refreshments before the service. email Debbie Dust
Creche helpers – the creche will always welcome new helpers onto their rota. We aim to provide a safe, fun environment for the under threes to play while their parents are in church. email Heather Graham
Kosmic – There is a great team of adults and young people who run the childrens work at the church every sunday. They are always looking for new people to join their team.
Gideons is a group for those in years 7 & 8 that also runs on sunday mornings and would welcome more adult leaders. email Derrick Burns
Lifts We have a need for more people to help those who would like to get to church on sundays to get there, more drivers always welcome. email Ian clark
Weekday activities
The church has many different activites taking place in the daytime adn evenings, right through the week. There are many opportunities for service in the many groups including:
Family Support Group on Tuesday mornings needs people who could get alongside mums, or help look after children in a creche or prepare lunch. email Debbie Dust
Toddlers. There are three toddlers groups, one on a Tuesday afternoon and two on Wednesdays, all of which would welcome more people to help with making the teas and coffees, chatting to the mums, or even preparing some craft activites from time to time. email Debbie Dust
Lunch Club meets on Wednesdays. they are always keen to hear from people able to offer lifts at around 12 and 3 to those attending the lunches. they also welcome help from people in chatting to the guests, serving the meals, or shopping for the food.
Visiting – we have an active pastoral team of people who enjoy visiting others. we are always looking for new people to join this, for occasional or regular visiting. email Heather Graham
Evening Activities
If you work during the day but would like to serve in an evening then you could help with:
Generation a young peoples bible study and activity group that meets on Monday evenings. email Derrick Burns
Youth club a very active club of around 50 young people from the local area. This club meets every Friday evening in term time and is always looking for leaders and helpers to come alongside the young people, chat to them, run activities and help in practical ways with the set up and clearing up. email Derrick Burns
Alpha – when alpha courses are being run help is needed with catering, and with leading small groups. email Debbie Dust
Marriage course Again help with catering, set up etc. email Frank Harper
Occasional activities
Cooking Meals Sarah Piggin heads up a list of those who are willing to make meals for families who are in difficult circumstances, for example through illness. If you enjoy cooking please add your name to this list. email Heather Graham
Babysitting from time to time we need babysitters, if family members are in hospital, or if we are running courses that both parents would like to attend. email Heather Graham
Lifts are needed occasionally for things like hospital appointments, if you drive and would be happy to be contacted occasionally. email Heather Graham
DIY As we make more contacts in the community, we come across many people who need help in small and large ways to make their homes more liveable in. If you have some skills in this area you might enjoy getting involved in the occasional project. email Heather Graham
