Treasure Hunt
On Sunday 18th July we stepped out on a new adventure… Treasure Hunting.
The treasure we were searching for was the treasure Jesus talks about. People. We began by meeting to listen to God for clues, then went out around the town looking for treasure. We were excited by what God did through these encounters.
SO GOOD, WE ARE DOING THIS AGAIN ON SUNDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER AT 7PM.
Read what happened…
“On comparing clues, we headed down “Windrush Court” to the “Allotments”, with other supporting clues being “greenhouse” / “cold-frame” and “broken glass”. Among other things that we had written down, we had “dog” and “Jack Russell dog” written down. When we got there, we found two men and a lady, sitting with a small terrier dog (I don’t actually know whether it was a Jack Russell, but it seemed close!). Heather and I went up and spoke with them, and although the names that we had written down didn’t mean anything to them, the two men both had a bad “hip” (one of my clues). They were both very happy to be prayed for, and although neither experienced any dramatic healing there and then, they thanked us and we’ll continue to pray for them.”
“The first time we approached people was scary but the boldness we got from it was brilliant and infectious! The second time was much easier than the first. Everyone we spoke to was happy to have a conversation and/or let us pray for them. I was amazed by the accuracy of the clues. n the preparation for going out, I had lots loads of words coming to mind, rather than pictures and although I felt daft writing them down on my treasure map I was stunned as more and more became real as we went looking!
A great encouragement was that almost everyone we met and talked to were already aware of the church or people from it – either through church activities, working with people they know go to the church or having been to an event there. It is great to know we are already part of the community and that people are already talking about their church life and faith.”
What an amzing evening. Myself and Sam are both so glad we came along, what a real injection of adrenaline it has been to our faith! It has also removed any fear I may have had of getting out there and shouting the Word of our awesome God!
